Our proposed renovation of this house in St Andrews Beach will transform it into a highly considered, textural home harmoniously integrated with its landscape – a vast contrast to the existing condition.

In response to the site, we choreographed the arrival sequence and oriented different areas of the house to their surroundings to enrich the daily experience. Windows and walls have been strategically added or removed to capture key views and give clarity and rhythm to the building and plan. Purposeful connections between spaces create effortless flow indoors and out, and the addition of lifestyle amenities – a sauna, pool and poolhouse – reflect the owners’ focus on wellness and health.

We selected high-quality, textural, natural materials that will endure the coastal conditions and embed the house into its nearby sand dunes and native landscape. This tactile palette infuses the home with warmth and atmosphere, and the order and balance of the materials enhances its harmony with the surroundings.
